Working within an external envelope defined by strict local authority planning constraints, this refurbishment and extension of an existing 1930's detached house seeks to provide flexible spaces better suited to the requirements of 21st century life. A series of sliding 'walls' allow the open plan ground floor to be divided into more traditional rooms when required. Bespoke joinery using natural materials combined with crisp, minimal detailing create an uncluttered, contemporary feel to a building that at its heart remains a family home.
