New town, old ideals

BuckleyGrayYeoman have demolished a four-storey 1960s office building and replaced it with a six-storey building, with a retail unit on the ground and lower ground floor, divided into four floors of office space and one duplex penthouse. Each office floor has its own private balcony to the rear and secure bicycle parking on the ground floor. The façade is elegant and contemporary, clad in light brick laid with varying orientations and bonds to articulate the façade. Reconstituted stone lintels span the window bays adding further visual interest. On the ground floor, green glazed bricks have provided a hardwearing finish that differentiates the use of the shop. Eagle Wharf Road is a four and five storey mixed-use new build located north of Old Street Underground station. With Phase 1 recently completed, this releases 12,000 sqft of commercial space to market on the upper four floors. Joint venture partners Aldridge Security have relocated from existing premises on site to occupy a further 10,000sqft across ground and lower ground floor. This has allowed Phase 2 demolition to start, with 36 residential units and a further 14,200 sqft commercial to be completed in summer 2019.

BuckleyGrayYeoman have recently received planning consent on behalf of Aitch Group for a mixed use scheme along Regents Canal in the London Borough of Hackney. The eight storey scheme consists of over 3800 sqm of commercial space from basement to first floors with 40 residential units comprised of 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments above. The external facade steps in response to the shape of the site and its surrounding context. BuckleyGrayYeoman has received planning consent on behalf of Aitch Group in partnership with Mura Estates, for three residential blocks consisting of 78 units, located behind Woodgrange Road high street on Earlham Grove in the London Borough of Newham.Situated on a brownfield site, 140-150 Earlham Grove will consist of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, arranged over 6 storeys in blocks A and B and 5 storeys in block C. Comprising of 70,000 sq ft, the external façade of the development has been carefully considered in response to its surroundings.
