BuckleyGrayYeoman have completed the new Performing Arts Building (PAB) at Channing School in Highgate, London. This is the second phase of redevelopment at the school and follows on from Phase 1 of the masterplan that delivered new sports facilities and a new sixth-form teaching block completed in 2015.   The £4.7 million project provides a new state of art faculty for Music and Drama. Entirely funding by the School, the new PAB provides a 300 capacity semi-professional theatre with retractable seating for use by both drama and music departments, underpinning the schools excellence in music and reinforces the school’s ability in delivering first class teaching. Channing School, one of our projects in Highgate has been shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival in the School- Completed Buildings category. The 1645 sq m project provides new sports facilities and sixth form accommodation in modern brick-built buildings that overlook north London from the school’s campus at the top of Highgate Hill. The designs for the leading independent day school adds three new buildings to the school’sestate, improving the sports, performing arts and sixth form facilities whilst remaining sensitive to, and building upon, its rich architectural and educational heritage. We are very excited to report that the Performing Arts Building for Channing School is now taking shape up in Highgate, North London. The steelwork is currently being erected during the school holidays and when the pupils and staff return in September they will be able to see the bones of their new building in place. The project is currently on track for completion in April 2017 and will provide the school with a 300-seat multi-purpose theatre and concert performance space along with drama-teaching areas. The project is the third phase of work which BuckleyGrayYeoman have undertaken for the school, including the new Dining Hall, Sixth-form Centre and Sports Hall.

BuckleyGrayYeoman have been shortlisted in two categories in the 2016 New London Architecture Awards which recognises the very best new and proposed architecture, planning and development in the capital.   C Space, for client Helical Bar is a finalist in Conservation & Retrofit, while the Sport Hall & Sixth-Form Centre at Channing School has been shortlisted in the Education category. Pure Aldgate Completion

BuckleyGrayYeoman has completed a 417 room new build student residential development on Commercial Road in East London for student housing provider Pure Student Living. Pure Aldgate’s 19 storeys contain over 11,970 sq m of accommodation and communal facilities on the edge of the City of London. The highlights of the building include a screening room, private gym and a skylounge and outdoor terrace on the 19th floor that boasts spectacular views of the London skyline.   The facade of Pure Aldgate has been developed using a system of pre-cast concrete modules that have been arranged to give an expressive geometry that enlivens the façade, giving it a depth, individuality and visual interest that marks it out on the…
